Prof. Reto Knutti is a leading climate scientist and a prominent voice bridging science and society. Through research, talks, policy reports, and media contributions, he informs debate on climate change and promotes dialogue to ensure scientific insights guide decision-making. He leads the Climate Physics group at ETH studying climate models, projections, variability, attribution, and extreme events.

He has published over 200 papers including in Nature, Science and PNAS. A lead author of multiple IPCC reports, he helped establish the ‘carbon budget’ central to UN climate negotiations. He served as ETH’s Associate VP for Sustainability (2015-2022) and currently holds numerous advisory and steering roles, including at the Competence Center for Sustainable Finance, Europaforum, Green Business Award, Impact Gstaad, K3 Kongress, and as lead PI of the ETH domain joint initiative SPEED2ZERO.
